With Europe drowned in the sound of bombs and tanks, the youth of the time hid in underground dancehalls, frantically dancing to the sounds of the big bands. This dancing was Swing, and Jitterbug. Swing is the name given to the smoother, lower style, and Jitterbug to the faster, more aerobic and aerial style.

It is recommended that students with no previous experience commence with at least four weeks of Rock 'n Roll beginners classes before starting jitterbug classes.
